I know some of these tips may sound obvious to someone else but it all wasn’t making sense this morning so I thought I would write these down. I hope people find this keyboard reference helpful. Please provide any comments in the comment section below.
Post and Page Creation
- To edit a post highlight the post in the table and either press command-o or Enter.
- To edit a post with BBEdit Press command-option-j
- To create a new post press Command-n
- To create a new page press command-shift-n.
- To save your edit as a local draft press command-s
- To print a post or page press command-p
- To create a new blog press command-option-n
Editing and Searching
- To undo what you’ve typed press command-z
- To redo or put back the text you took away with command-z press shift-command-z
- To paste something into the editor press command-v
- If you want to keep the formatting of the text you are pasting press command-option-shift-v
- To paste HTML source press command-control-v
- To select all press command-a
- To show spelling and grammar press command-:
- To check spelling press command-;
- To display the special characters dialog press command-option-t
- To search your blogs press command-option-f
- To find text press command-f
- To find the next occurrence press command-g
- To find the previous occurrence press command-shift-g
- To use text you have selected in the editing window for a search press command-e
- To jump to a selected block of text press command-j
Viewing
- To view a post in the default browser press command-shift-b
- To hide the blogs table press command-option-, (comma)
Your Blogs
- To refresh just one blog press command-r
- To refresh all blogs press command-shift-r
Posting
- To send a post or page to your blog press command-shift-d
- To edit in rich text or HTML mode press command-shift-t
- To add an image or file press command-shift-i
- To add technorati tags press command-control-t
- To edit the date press command-option-l
- To edit trackbacks press command-control-u
- To edit the enclosure press command-option-e
- To edit the body of the post press command-option-b
- To edit the extended entry press command-option-x
Formatting Text
Please note that this is a customizable menu. You select the edit option at the bottom then a new window will open where
you can enter more HTML macros.
This is the default keyboard list as is shipped with MarsEdit. Any macros you add here can have keyboard shortcuts assigned to them.
- To add a link press command-option-a
- To paste a link press command-shift-a
- To bold text press command-b
- To put text in italics press command-i
- To underline text press command-u
- To enter a hard line break press command-return.
Window Shortcuts
- To minimize a window press command-m
- To go to the main window press command-1
- To open the media manager press command-2
- To open the upload utility press command-3
- To access the network log press command-control-n
Great! Thanks for this handy reference. I understand that Mac lets you assign keyboard shortcuts to any program, any tips on how to do that? Thanks once again for help with MarsEdit, it is one of the cool apps around.
I have done this with an app before. I’ll make a post on how I did it tomorrow.
